English version

On all sides we are called to work without rest to excel in our careers. Everyone is not made for specialized work, let alone reach the heights of genius in the arts and sciences, many are called to be workers in factories, fields and streets.

But there is no insignificant work. Any work that helps humanity has dignity and importance. It should therefore be undertaken with a perfection that does not shrink from the effort. He who is called to be street sweeper must sweep as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed as, or as Shakespeare wrote. It should sweep streets so well that the hosts of heaven and earth will stop and say, "Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well."

This is what Douglas Mallock meant when he wrote:
"If you can not be pin at the top of the hill,
Be scrub in the valley.
But be the best little scrub
By the stream.
Be bush, if you can not be tree.
If you can not be road, be path;
If you can not be sun, be star;
It is not the size that you will conquer;
Be the best, what you are. "

You seriously look to find what you're done, and then give yourself passionately to his execution. This program clearly led to self-realization in the length of a man's life.
